Warframe heads to Tau in Epoch: Operation Taubound
Warframe heads for the Tau star system in a one-time Xbox community event launching on 15 October, with permanent quest content alongside its limited rewards.
Warframe is heading towards the Tau star system with Epoch: Operation Taubound, a one-time community event arriving on Xbox on 15 October. Players will have until 17 November to help power the journey and earn event rewards.1
A community push towards Tau
The event asks new and returning Xbox players to take on missions on Eris, destroy Infested enemies and collect Moonflesh. That resource powers the Sentient Mothership Praghasa, while players can exchange it for event rewards.12
The reward pool includes new armour sets, exclusive event Honoria, Somachords, cosmetics, Glyphs, Sigils, Floofs, Syandanas, Signas, Badges and Blueprints. The event is described as a unique, one-time challenge rather than a permanent activity.1
A new chapter beyond the event
Epoch: Operation Taubound also introduces Prologue to Tau, a short single-player cinematic quest that lets players take control of the Lotus for the first time. The quest campaign addition is permanent, and is available to Xbox players who have completed The Hex and The Old Peace quests.1
Players can also use the Vessel customised during TennoCon on the surface of Eris and face a large Infested boss encounter. The event and the permanent quest content both build towards Tau, the distant star system that has been teased throughout Warframe's long-running story.12
Our opinion
A limited community event is a fitting way to turn Warframe's long-promised trip to Tau into something players help create together, rather than a destination that simply arrives in a patch. The permanent quest content matters more than the reward list, though: giving players a direct role in the next story chapter should make the event feel like a proper milestone instead of a timed cosmetic hunt.
For Xbox players, the important date is 15 October. The event ends on 17 November, while Prologue to Tau remains available to eligible players afterwards.1
