AYANEO gives shipping updates on three handhelds

AYANEO says Pocket Block shipments are starting, Pocket Advance fulfilment is nearing completion and Pocket Micro 2 is delayed until early November.

AYANEO has issued a new shipping update covering three of its current and upcoming handhelds: the KONKR Pocket Block, KONKR Pocket Advance and AYANEO Pocket Micro 2. The update was shared with backers and pre-order customers, according to Time Extension, giving each device a different status as AYANEO works through its latest production batches.1

The Pocket Micro 2 is the one facing a fresh delay. AYANEO now expects the compact handheld to begin shipping in early November rather than later in October, with the company pointing to the late arrival of some build components. That is a change to the previously expected window, so anyone who pre-ordered the device should treat the new date as an estimate rather than a guaranteed dispatch day.1

The news is more positive for the KONKR Pocket Block. Orders are expected to begin shipping this week, with initial batches rolling out over the coming days. The Pocket Block is the small retro-style handheld shown in the accompanying product image, and AYANEO's official product listing still positions it as one of the company's current portable gaming machines.12

AYANEO also says that approximately 90% of Pocket Advance pre-orders have now shipped. Most of the remaining orders are for the Onyx Ice variant, which was held back from some of the earliest batches. That update matters because it suggests the Pocket Advance is moving towards the end of its fulfilment run, even if the final orders are taking longer than customers were originally hoping.1

For buyers, the practical takeaway is a mixed one: Pocket Block orders are moving, Pocket Micro 2 has slipped into early November, and Pocket Advance fulfilment is reportedly close to complete. These are shipping estimates rather than a promise that every order will arrive on the same timetable, particularly for customers dealing with international dispatch and customs processing.

Our opinion

Shipping updates are not glamorous, but this is the information buyers need most once a handheld has been announced and pre-orders are open. The Pocket Block news is encouraging, while the Pocket Micro 2 delay is frustrating but at least gives customers a clearer expectation than an indefinitely vague production window. The important thing now is whether AYANEO keeps communicating when those early-November Pocket Micro 2 units actually leave the warehouse. A precise update is much more useful than another round of colourful launch renders.
