ANBERNIC RG DDS price and shipping details reportedly leak
An AliExpress listing reportedly reveals provisional prices, colours and a December shipping date for ANBERNIC’s dual-screen RG DDS handheld.
ANBERNIC’s upcoming RG DDS handheld has appeared in an AliExpress listing ahead of its expected pre-order launch, revealing provisional prices, colour options and a December shipping date. The listing is not an official retail announcement, so these details should be treated as unconfirmed until ANBERNIC publishes them directly.1
What the listing says
The AliExpress listing reported by Time Extension gives the RG DDS a price of $364.99 (£275) for a model with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage. A lower specification with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage is listed at $299.99 (£225). Both versions are expected to receive a $15 reduction during the pre-order period, which the listing says should begin on 16 October.1
The same listing gives 10 December as the expected shipping date and names white, blue and black as the available colours. It also says that the handheld will ship without games. That last detail matters for a device aimed at emulation: the lack of bundled games avoids making the product itself a more obvious target for copyright complaints.
ANBERNIC has already confirmed the basic design and hardware direction on its own site. The company describes the RG DDS as a clamshell handheld with two screens, an approximately 4.7-inch 1200-by-720 upper display, and an approximately 4-inch 960-by-720 lower display.2 The controls sit around the lower screen, with dual analogue sticks, a D-pad and ABXY buttons, while a built-in stylus is intended to support touch-based software.
A Nintendo 3DS-inspired design
The RG DDS is plainly designed around the appeal of the Nintendo 3DS without being a Nintendo product. ANBERNIC says the two displays are matched for colour, brightness and refresh behaviour, and that each panel is intended to preserve the proportions of the original 3DS image. The company also lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, active cooling and a 6,000mAh battery among the handheld’s headline specifications.2
That makes the AliExpress listing more interesting than a simple price leak. If accurate, it positions the RG DDS as a premium enthusiast device rather than a low-cost emulation box. The $364.99 version is competing on its unusual dual-screen format, while the lower model keeps the concept below the psychologically important $300 mark.
There is still plenty the listing does not settle. ANBERNIC has not, in the official material checked for this report, confirmed the AliExpress prices, the discount, the exact pre-order timing or the 10 December shipping date. Availability may also vary by region, and the pound figures are conversions rather than evidence of a final UK price.
Our opinion
The RG DDS is one of the more distinctive handheld designs in ANBERNIC’s growing catalogue, and the official specifications make it feel like a deliberate attempt to build around dual-screen software rather than merely imitate a familiar shell. The leaked prices are high enough that buyers will reasonably expect sturdy hinges, reliable display matching and software that makes good use of both screens. Until the company confirms the retail details, though, the safest conclusion is that the device is approaching launch — not that every number on AliExpress is final.
