Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast had a Ni no Kuni surprise
Netmarble's Bloomwalker is now officially part of the Ni no Kuni universe, one of 17 reveals from Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast.

Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast ran through 17 reveals, announcements, a world premiere and one surprise release on 17 September, and the loudest item arrived almost casually. Bloomwalker, Netmarble's crafting adventure, is now officially part of the Ni no Kuni universe, according to Xbox Wire's own recap of the show. The new trailer fills in a Pocket Dimension behind a door inside the Moving House, a self-contained space where players build and decorate alongside their Familiars.
A world premiere and two firm dates
Serenity Forge used the broadcast for a world premiere. Faraday Blues is a surreal sci-fi adventure about a daughter searching for parents who do not know she exists, and it hands players character cards to rewrite tragic choices across three interconnected stories. It is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and cloud with no release window attached yet.
Two games left with dates. Edge of Memories, the action RPG built by a small French studio with veteran Japanese developers, arrives on 5 November 2026, and its latest trailer shows off the Japanese dub. Hope in the City, Lofty Sky Games' narrative mystery about a teenager investigating her parents' sudden disappearance with nothing but an artist's eye and a sketchbook, lands on 10 November 2026. SEGA also revealed Japan as a location for Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and Raji: Kaliyuga received an extended gameplay first look that moves the series from its isometric roots into full third-person combat six years on from the original.
One thing you can play tonight
The surprise release was Fallout 76's The Slasher update, which is available now to all players. Its animated trailer drags the Pint-Sized Slasher Imposter out of pre-war folklore, and the update spins a masked murder mystery across several weeks, driven by emergency broadcasts and a run of infestation fights.
Everything else on the broadcast
Shape of Dreams launched on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on the day. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember showed a boss fight against Zuochi ahead of its 4 March 2027 release, with an alpha demo running until 30 September. Persona 4 Revival introduced Naoto Shirogane before its 18 February 2027 date, Genigods: Nezha brought a developer diary, and GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, Once Human's Isles of Abyss expansion and Atelier Karia all appeared with fresh footage. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 closed proceedings with its campaign trailer ahead of its 23 October launch.
Our opinion
Folding an original game into a beloved universe is the smartest move on the list, and it is worth being clear-eyed about why. Netmarble is not announcing a Ni no Kuni sequel; it is buying association with a series that has been quietly treasured for well over a decade, which is faster and cheaper than building that affection from scratch. The risk is that the connection has to be more than a line in a broadcast recap. If Bloomwalker ships as a beautiful crafting game that happens to share a world, the association will read as marketing, and Ni no Kuni fans are precisely the audience least likely to forgive that.
The shape of the broadcast is the other telling detail. A world premiere, a same-day release and two firm dates is a tighter show than the usual hour of trailers, and the fact that the reveal carrying the most cultural weight came from a Korean publisher working with Xbox rather than from a first-party studio says where the platform's Japanese ambitions now sit. Xbox's Tokyo Game Show presence is no longer about proving it can sell hardware in Japan. It is about being the shopfront where Japanese games get discovered, and that is a role the platform is starting to play rather well.
