Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember lands on 4 March 2027
Team Ninja's Three Kingdoms action RPG has a release date, pre-orders are open and a limited-time alpha demo is live on PS5 and PC until 30 September.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember has a release date, and you can play a chunk of it this month. Team Ninja's dark-fantasy Three Kingdoms action RPG arrives on 4 March 2027, pre-orders opened alongside the announcement, and an Alpha Demo runs until 30 September.
What the demo actually contains
The Alpha Demo covers part of the Changban stage. Combat still turns on Deflect, which nullifies and redirects incoming attacks, backed by a spread of martial arts techniques and weapons. The new Insight Skills let you counter and reposition, shoving enemies into walls or slamming airborne attackers into the ground. Co-op multiplayer and character creation are switched on in the demo as well, so it is not just a slice of the campaign. Beating the boss Wuzhiqi earns the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the full game, and Team Ninja is asking players to fill in a survey because, in its own words, the feedback makes a difference before launch.
A Three Kingdoms where the battlefields are open
Changban and the Red Cliffs appear as open fields rather than corridors, and how you cross them is up to you: flank enemy lines, capture bases, set traps or recruit enemy generals to swing a fight you were losing. The story is an original one, set among demons and elixirs of immortality drawn from Chinese classical literature, with characters from the first game returning in roles that matter. Team Ninja says newcomers can start here without feeling lost, which is the polite way of saying the sequel has been built to sell to people who skipped the original.
Prices, editions and platforms
PlayStation.Blog confirms the PS5 version, and the Steam page confirms the PC release, where pre-orders are live at £64.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition adds a Season Pass, a digital mini soundtrack and a digital mini art book, and any digital pre-order includes the Creator Goddess Garb set. Steam still lists the game as coming soon, so the demo is the only part of this you can actually play today.
Our opinion
The interesting part of this announcement is not the date, it is the demo. Putting a playable build out seven months early, with character creation and co-op switched on, is Team Ninja asking for criticism while it can still do something about it, and hanging a cosmetic reward on a boss kill is a far better carrot than the usual pre-order trinket. The risk is bloat. Open battlefields, base capture, recruitment and a returning cast could easily bury the tight, Deflect-driven combat that made the first game worth the effort. Team Ninja's form suggests it knows where the line is, but March 2027 is a long way off, and a demo that closes on 30 September means the noisiest feedback will land long before the finished game does.
