Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA have published the results of the Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Alpha Demo survey, along with a detailed list of changes planned for the full game. The report follows an Alpha Demo that ran from September 16 to 30, 2026, and promises adjustments to combat, optimisation, graphics, controls, field design and online play. 12

Combat changes target Spirit and Insight Skills

Team NINJA says it will widen the timing windows for successful Deflects and Insight Skills, while making successful Insight Skills restore more Spirit. The studio also plans to add skills and special effects that reduce the Spirit cost of a player’s next action, improve the homing performance of Insight Jump, and strengthen aerial attacks. Wizardry Spells with limited uses will be reviewed, with new airborne spells also planned. 1

The changes are aimed at making the action RPG’s combat more proactive. Team NINJA says it will rebalance Spirit gain and loss and strengthen Martial Arts and Wizardry Spells, giving players more freedom to press an advantage rather than constantly managing a narrow resource window. The developer also intends to increase the Spirit damage dealt by Strong Attacks based on the preceding Quick Attack combo and add a skill that preserves that combo after a successful Deflect or Insight Skill. 1

The survey suggests that the Alpha Demo’s core direction was received positively, but performance was a notable weak spot. Team NINJA reports that 71.9 per cent of respondents rated their overall experience positively. For PC players using Xbox or Steam, however, 50.5 per cent rated optimisation negatively, compared with 24.8 per cent positive responses. The planned fixes include more stable frame rates, shorter fast-travel and retry loading times, and reduced model pop-in. 1

Wider improvements are planned

The feedback report also covers enemy behaviour, visuals, camera controls and the Changban field. Critical Blow telegraphs should become easier to see, airborne enemies should be less likely to move to unreachable positions, and several lock-on and camera behaviours will be adjusted. The map will gain better visibility for exploration elements, while the game will offer more tutorial reminders and expanded entries with video and images. 1

Team NINJA is also planning better co-op stability, including saving progress during co-op, improved matching and a greater distance between players and the host. Gamepad configuration will gain more options, keyboard controls will become more granular, and various interface icons will be enlarged or made easier to read. 1

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is scheduled for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC on March 4, 2027. It will also be available through Game Pass, according to the report carried by Gematsu. 2

Our opinion

This is a reassuringly concrete response to an Alpha Demo. Team NINJA is not limiting the report to vague promises about polish: it identifies the combat timings, Spirit economy, camera behaviour and loading problems that need attention. The optimisation figures explain why those fixes matter, particularly for PC players. If the studio delivers the promised adjustments without losing the deliberate tension that defines Wo Long’s combat, the full game should arrive with a much more confident foundation than the Alpha Demo alone suggested.
