Windblown gets final early-access update before version 1.0
Motion Twin’s 0.9999999 update overhauls Windblown’s combat and build systems ahead of version 1.0, with a 30% Steam discount running until 5 November.
Motion Twin has released Windblown’s final major early-access update before the action roguelite moves towards version 1.0. Update 0.9999999 rebuilds parts of combat, expands build options and adds quality-of-life changes, while the game is 30% off on Steam until 5 November. 12
A final early-access overhaul
The update changes how fights read and flow. A new warning system gives players more information before enemy attacks land, while the timing of some actions has been adjusted to make combat feel smoother. Motion Twin has also rebalanced the co-op and Cataclysmic modes, and added new enemy force fields to higher difficulty levels. Breaking those barriers requires players to use their Alterattack. 1
Windblown also gets return teleporters, making it quicker to revisit parts of an island that players have already explored. The change should cut down on repeated traversal without removing the need to learn each run’s layout.
More gear, shops and build choices
Motion Twin says the update adds 17 equipment affixes, a reworked item-rarity system, new Mythic Gift variants and the return of Double Hits as a Memory Cipher. There is also a new Magifish, the Chrono-fish, alongside new islands to explore. 1
The shop system has been rebuilt around six specialised store types covering equipment, gifts, healing, upgrades, Memonite and general items. That gives players more control over where to spend a run’s resources and should make build planning less dependent on stumbling into the right shop.
The update also broadens controller support and accessibility options, including automatic combos. Those changes sit alongside the combat work rather than replacing it: Windblown remains a fast, timing-heavy roguelite, but it should be clearer about what is happening when several enemies attack at once.
Version 1.0 is getting closer
Windblown has spent roughly two years in early access and has received 10 major content updates. Motion Twin describes 0.9999999 as the last update before the full release, but the studio has not announced a precise 1.0 date. The wording leaves room for further polish and balance work before the definitive launch. 12
For now, new players can pick up the game at a 30% discount during Steam’s third Motion Week, reducing the price to €17.49 in the European store at the time of writing. The discount runs until 5 November 2026. 1
Our opinion
A final pre-1.0 update should be more than a last burst of content, and this one appears to understand that. The useful changes are the connective tissue: better combat warnings, quicker returns through explored areas, clearer shops and more build variety. Windblown’s 1.0 release still needs a firm date, but update 0.9999999 gives the early-access version a much stronger final shape to build on.
