Three-Body: Eve of Judgment opens its Steam store page

Timeline has opened the Steam page for a licensed Three-Body adventure, but the branching story game has no release date yet.

Timeline has opened the Steam store page for Three-Body: Eve of Judgment, a licensed adventure game set in the world of Chinese science-fiction novel The Three-Body Problem (三体). The page confirms a PC release on Steam, although it does not yet give the game a launch date. 1

The English title on Steam is Three-Body: Eve of Judgment. The Japanese report that surfaced the announcement refers to it as Three-Body: Eve of Judgment (三体 審判前夜), while describing Timeline as the developer. The game is built around a story set shortly before the planned Guzheng Operation, a mission targeting the massive ship Judgment Day after humanity makes contact with the Trisolarans. 2

Players take the role of Chen Anjiu, a former special-forces soldier who enters the ship under a false identity while trying to rescue someone. Rival factions inside the Earth-Trisolaris Organisation make it difficult to tell who can be trusted, and the approaching operation gives the scenario a clear time limit.

A choice-led science-fiction adventure

The store listing and published screenshots point to an interactive-movie structure rather than a conventional action game. Exploration, clues and items will help Chen work through obstacles, while conversations and actions can alter character fates and lead to multiple endings. One screenshot shows a choice between answering honestly about his military background and pretending to be a mechanic; another shows the use of a handheld radio to activate a signal-jamming device. 1

Timeline says the expected play time is more than five hours. That makes the project a compact, choice-focused adaptation rather than an attempt to recreate the entire Three-Body Problem saga. The available material does not establish a direct connection to the Chinese live-action series or Netflix's adaptation, so those should not be treated as part of the game's continuity.

The licensed setting gives the game a strong built-in hook, but its appeal will depend on whether those decisions genuinely reshape the investigation rather than simply redirecting players between fixed scenes. A branching story aboard the Judgment Day is an unusually focused way to explore the novel's conflict: the player is pushed towards a mission while the people around them disagree about what humanity should do.

What we know so far

Three-Body: Eve of Judgment is planned for PC via Steam. The store page is live, but Timeline has not announced a release date or price in the available information. The game is therefore one to watch rather than something players can buy or play today. 1

Our opinion

A five-hour interactive thriller set on the Judgment Day is a sensible scale for a first licensed game. It leaves room to make the moral pressure and shifting loyalties the main event instead of burying them beneath a huge open world. The unanswered questions are practical ones: how much freedom the branches offer, whether the multiple endings reflect meaningful choices, and when the game will actually launch. For now, the Steam reveal is an intriguing first look, not a release announcement.
