Teardown multiplayer and Mod Pack 6 hit consoles

Teardown’s long solo run on console is over. Tuxedo Labs has released the game’s free multiplayer update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, letting up to 12 players demolish the same voxel sandbox together at last.

Co-op heists and competitive chaos

The headline addition is the one PC players have had since March: the base campaign’s 40 missions can now be tackled in co-op, so one player can carve a hole where a wall used to be while another lines up the getaway. Sandbox mode hands everyone unlimited resources for unfiltered experimentation, and competitive play adds Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag to the same very breakable maps.

Two new maps and 30 fresh mods

The update is more than a switch flip. Two new maps arrive with it — Splitfield Estate, which brings its own Treasure Thieves mode, and Cratertown, built around mirrored layouts for team play. Teardown: Mod Pack #6 lands alongside as another free download, adding 30 community creations covering weapons, vehicles, maps and weather. Battle Royale, Prop Hunt and Vehicle Sumo sit among the bigger additions, with an FPV Drone, a Light Katana, a Tripmine, a Hunting Rifle, dynamic weather and time, a tornado mod and smoke grenades filling out the rest. Multiplayer support has also been added to more than 40 mods from earlier packs.

Our opinion

Teardown has always been a game about the moment a careful plan becomes rubble, and other people are the fastest way to get there. Twelve players sharing a fully destructible map is chaos with a physics engine attached, and it finally puts the console release on the same footing as the PC version. Tuxedo Labs spent years resisting the most obvious feature the game had; now that it has landed, the sandbox should feel a great deal less lonely.
