Stranger Than Heaven reveals its historical cast

Sega has shared new screenshots and character details for Stranger Than Heaven through the game's official Asia website, expanding the historical drama's cast beyond its central figure, Makoto Daito.

A cast shaped by five cities and five decades

The story follows Makoto Daito from 1915 to 1965 as he searches for a place to call home across five cities. Born to an American father and a Japanese mother, Daito leaves the United States after facing persecution and travels towards Japan, where he meets merchant Orpheus and Yu Shinjo.

The official character pages introduce Daito, Shinjo and the other people drawn into their lives, each carrying their own ambitions, convictions and pasts. Sega's update pairs those profiles with fresh screenshots from the game, giving the clearest look yet at the people surrounding its central story.

What Sega has confirmed

The new material confirms the game's broad historical frame and its focus on a protagonist caught between two countries. It does not, by itself, establish a release date, final platform list or every detail of the wider plot, so those points remain outside this update.

Our opinion

Stranger Than Heaven is making the right first impression by leading with people rather than spectacle. A 50-year span and five-city journey could easily become a postcard tour of history, but Makoto Daito's divided identity gives the setting a human pressure point. The new profiles also suggest a drama built around collisions between people who have each arrived with their own baggage, which is more promising than a simple period backdrop. Sega should keep that restraint: the game will be strongest if its history is felt through the cast instead of delivered as homework.
