Slime Mine Survivor demo arrives on Steam with block-mining combat

Slime Mine Survivor mixes survivor-like combat with destructible block mining, toxic gas and upgrade choices in a new Steam demo.

Slime Mine Survivor gameplay showing block mining, enemies and toxic gas

Slime Mine Survivor is now available as a playable demo on Steam, giving the upcoming roguelite action game a clear hook: dig through a destructible block maze while fighting waves of enemies with automatic attacks.1

Dig, fight and keep moving

The game alternates between combat areas and intermission areas. In the combat sections, players mine through 2D blocks, collect ore and treasure, and fend off enemies while toxic gas closes in from above. That pressure means the safest-looking route is not always the most useful one: staying to search for resources risks being caught by the advancing hazard.1

Build choices shape each run

Ore can be sold for coins to improve weapons and the pickaxe, or saved as an evolution resource. The choice changes how a run develops, with the store description presenting upgrades and equipment evolution as the foundation of the game's build system.2

Weapon and pickaxe evolutions can also alter the battlefield. Burning areas damage enemies over time, while frozen areas slow them down, allowing players to combine equipment effects with the layout they have carved through the level.2

The Steam listing describes multiple evolution paths, along with synergies between weapons, the pickaxe and environmental effects. The full release date is still listed as coming soon, so this is a look at a playable work in progress rather than a launch announcement.2

Our opinion

The demo's strongest idea is the tension between mining and survival. Digging is not merely movement: it is how players reach resources, shape the battlefield and decide how much danger to invite before moving on. That gives the familiar survivor-like auto-attack format a physical layer, because every shortcut and tunnel changes the space around the character.

The early pitch is promising, but a demo cannot yet answer whether the upgrade paths will stay varied over a full release or whether the mine layouts will remain interesting after repeated runs. For now, Slime Mine Survivor is worth watching for players who like their horde-action games with a little more terrain management.
