PHOSEPO and publisher Thermite Games have dated Psycho-Sleuth for 5 November on PC, with the game arriving on Steam and Stove and a playable demo sitting on its store page right now.

The premise is a proper hook. A cult called Li has taken over the world and set 13 “Afflicted Ones” a simple trial: commit murder without being caught and ascend to godhood. Each suspect carries a cognitive disorder that spreads to everyone nearby, so obsessive-compulsive disorder forces every statement to be literally true, spatial neglect wipes the left side out of crime scenes, and prosopagnosia turns every face into a blank.

That means evidence itself cannot be trusted, and neither can the testimony you are shown. Debate battles replace the usual point-and-click routine: accept a statement or answer it with the right clue, against the clock.

The developer’s own Steam announcement puts the production in numbers: 40 CG illustrations, Live2D animation for all 13 main characters, more than 50 original background tracks and over 10,000 lines of Japanese voice acting. Japanese audio is confirmed, with English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese text.

Our opinion

Deduction games live or die on whether the twist is fair, and making the twist a disease that warps what you are allowed to see is a smart way to keep players second-guessing their own notes. We are less sold on the cult framing, which risks burying an elegant idea under a pile of anime-godhood nonsense, but the demo is free and the release is close. If the logic holds up, this could be the sleeper of the autumn.
