Glass Head Dolls’ strange souls-like Prison of Husks will arrive on PC and PlayStation 5 in late January 2027.

Prison of Husks is heading to PC and consoles in late January 2027, with Glass Head Dolls’ melancholy souls-like setting its release date during the triple-i initiative showcase.1

A doll in a painted afterlife

The game drops players into Lysiane, a once-heavenly afterlife that has become a crumbling, haunted landscape. You play as a doll searching for a lost love while dealing with hostile dolls, pigment beasts and bosses driven by unfulfilled desires.1

Combat is built around precise parries, pistols, magic and equipment customisation rather than a traditional levelling system. The official Steam page also describes a dense world built around shortcuts and secrets, with the project drawing on early PlayStation classics.2

When does Prison of Husks release?

Gamezebo reports a 27 January 2027 release for Steam and PlayStation 5, while the official Steam listing currently displays 26 January 2027. That one-day difference appears to be a storefront date or time-zone distinction; either way, the game is scheduled for the final week of January.12

The Steam page also includes a new release-date announcement trailer and an updated demo, giving curious players a way to see its combat and first area before launch.2

Our opinion

Prison of Husks has a clearer hook than its deliberately rough presentation might suggest: the doll-and-painted-afterlife premise gives its early-PlayStation influences a suitably strange identity. The no-levelling approach could make every defeat matter, provided the parry timing and world shortcuts are as readable in the finished game as the pitch suggests. For now, this is one to watch rather than a recommendation to buy—the January release and demo will have to do the convincing.
