Persona 4 Revival reveals a brand-new Inaba resident

ATLUS has aired the second Persona 4 Revival broadcast, and it arrived with more than a combat refresher. The 19 September episode reintroduced the Investigation Team, then added a brand-new Social Link, a feature for digging through Inaba's past and a new voice at the microphone.

The new face is Aika Nakamura, daughter of the couple who run the Aiya family restaurant in the Central Shopping District. She arrives alongside Location Episodes, which trigger when Aika's parents ask you to look into what Inaba was like in the old days. Those investigations uncover stories from the cast's past, including episodes built around characters who never joined the Investigation Team.

What else the broadcast showed

Rise, Kanji, Naoto and Teddie each had their turn in the spotlight before the broadcast walked through the remake's battle systems. Rise's Support Skills now stretch from scanning enemy weaknesses to a chance of nullifying incoming damage outright, while Blunder Cover turns a mistimed turn into an opportunity: miss an attack and fail to knock an enemy down, and the team can follow up with a pursuit attack. Adachi, Nanako and Ryotaro Dojima also appear, and Shiori Sasaki was introduced as the remake's new vocalist, with a short message from composer Ryota Kozuka.

Persona 4 Revival launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store on 18 February 2027, and arrives on Game Pass on day one. The Nintendo Switch 2 version follows on 20 May 2027.

Our opinion

Remakes usually sell nostalgia in high definition, so the interesting thing about this broadcast is what ATLUS is adding rather than what it is polishing. Location Episodes are the boldest of those additions: they hang off the calendar structure the series has used for two decades but point outward at Inaba itself instead of inward at the dungeon of the month. It is the first revision of this story in years that treats the town as a place with its own history, which is exactly what a game about a small community keeping secrets should be doing.

Aika Nakamura is the part that will split the room. A Social Link with a restaurant owner's daughter is the sort of small-town texture Persona 4 did better than anything else, but the original ran on a ruthlessly finite school year, and a new relationship has to be paid for out of somebody else's calendar. Until ATLUS shows what moved, cautious optimism is the honest reading: a remake confident enough to add new emotional beats is far more interesting than one that simply preserves every frame.
