Nintendo maintenance will disrupt Switch, Switch 2 and 3DS services
Nintendo has scheduled four maintenance windows for Switch 2, Switch, the eShop and 3DS services between October 19 and 22.
Nintendo is taking several online services offline in stages this week, with maintenance affecting Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and the ageing 3DS. The schedule covers four separate windows between October 19 and October 22, so players using online features should plan around the relevant interruption rather than assuming every Nintendo service will disappear at once. 12
The October maintenance windows
The first interruption affects online play for some 3DS software. It runs from 7pm to 9pm PT on October 19, which is 3am to 5am in the UK and 4am to 6am in central Europe on October 20. 1
Nintendo then plans two eShop-related outages on October 19 into October 20. Using prepaid-funds cards and download codes is scheduled to be unavailable from 8:45pm to 1am PT, or 4:45am to 9am in the UK. Using credit cards in the eShop — including creating a child Nintendo Account in the US — follows from 9pm to 1am PT, equivalent to 5am to 9am in the UK. 12
The final window is the one most Switch 2 and Switch owners will want to note. Nintendo lists network-service maintenance, including acquiring stage data, from 11pm PT on October 21 to 12:30am PT on October 22. That is 7am to 8:30am in the UK and 8am to 9:30am in central Europe on October 22. 1
Nintendo warns that its network-status information can be slightly delayed outside normal business hours. The company’s official page is the best place to check for changes or live service incidents, while the published schedule is a forecast rather than a guarantee that every listed task will finish exactly on time. 1

Our opinion
This is routine maintenance, but the timing matters because the outages are split across different services. The 3DS window is easy to miss in a Switch-focused feed, while the two eShop interruptions could catch out anyone trying to redeem a code or add funds before work. The practical takeaway is simple: download what you need beforehand, avoid starting an online session near the listed windows, and check Nintendo’s live status page if a service remains unavailable after the scheduled end time.
