Capcom ends Monster Hunter Wilds character vouchers
Capcom will stop selling Character Edit Vouchers on 3 December and make appearance changes free when Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance arrives in 2027.

Capcom is ending the Character Edit Voucher. In a notice published for Monster Hunter Wilds, the company confirmed that the paid tokens used to change a hunter's appearance will go out of distribution on all platforms on 3 December 2026, ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance in 2027.
From Ascendance's release, appearance edits become free and unlimited. Capcom's wording is explicit: players will be able to re-edit their hunter as many times as they like, without a voucher and at no charge, in the Ver. 2 update that ships with the expansion. That change applies to the base game as well as the expansion.
A parting gift for players who already paid
Capcom is not simply switching the feature off and moving on. As a bridging measure it will distribute 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers free of charge, credited automatically to existing balances after the relevant update. Anyone who bought vouchers in the past also receives a Special Thank-You Pendant Set, claimable from 3 December, and existing vouchers stay usable until Ascendance arrives.
The paid three-voucher Character and Palico packs are discontinued. Capcom also confirmed that the Switch 2 version, due on 4 December, will not sell these products at all, so those players start with 10 of each.
Why a removed charge matters more than an added one
Character editing has drawn complaints since launch: a voucher covered a single change, so anyone unhappy with a face had to pay again to correct it. Removing the charge across the base game, rather than confining it to the expansion, is a paid cosmetic being taken away rather than introduced, which remains rare enough to notice.
Our opinion
Capcom is closing a till it never had a good argument for opening. A one-shot charge for changing your own character's face is the kind of monetisation that reads as a tax on a mistake, and it has sat badly with players since launch. Ending it deserves the credit it will get, and the free vouchers plus the thank-you pendant at least acknowledge the people who already paid. The timing is the interesting part. This lands with Ascendance, so the goodwill arrives in the same breath as a paid expansion, which looks less like a change of heart than a change of quarter. That is not a reason to complain, since the feature genuinely gets better. It is a reason to notice who is being asked to remember it kindly.
