Magic: The Gathering's Corn Maze Superdrop lands on 12 October

Wizards of the Coast has dated the Corn Maze Superdrop for 12 October, with eight Secret Lair drops spanning Marvel Zombies, KPop Demon Hunters and Jim Henson's Labyrinth.

Wizards of the Coast has put a date on its Halloween run of Secret Lair drops. The Corn Maze Superdrop goes on sale on 12 October, sold only through MagicSecretLair.com, and it is the largest licensed line-up the drop series has assembled this year.

What is in the Corn Maze Superdrop

Eight drops make up the Superdrop, and five of them carry licences: three separate Jim Henson's Labyrinth sets - Fear Me, Love Me, Should You Need Us and Through the Labyrinth - plus Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters: How It's Done and Secret Lair x Marvel: Zombies.

Fear Me, Love Me recasts Muxus, Goblin Grandee as Jareth, Goblin King, with Boggart Shenanigans, Dance with Calamity, Goblin Rabblemaster, Claim the Firstborn and Trinisphere filling out the set. Should You Need Us puts Jodah, the Unifier in as Sarah, Champion to the Lost and throws in a reversible Sir Didymus card. Both are priced at $29.99 in non-foil and $39.99 in foil.

What Zombies and Demon Hunters bring

Marvel: Zombies zombifies superheroes including Captain America and Scarlet Witch, while KPop Demon Hunters: How It's Done puts the members of HUNTR/X on cards including Underworld Breach and Unbreakable Formation.

The other three drops are home-grown: Artist Series: Veronique Meignaud, Manufactured Grounds by See Machine and Peace, Love, & Treefolk. Three bundles - A-Maize-Ing Everything, Full Moon Foil and Pumpkin Spiced Non-Foil - go up alongside them.

How the sale itself works

Spend $199 and you get one foil Maze of Ith as "The Labyrinth" while stock lasts, with free shipping over $99. A pre-queue opens at 8am Pacific, an hour before the sale starts at 9am Pacific on 12 October; pre-queue places are drawn at random, and nothing in a cart is reserved until checkout finishes.

Our opinion

Licensed Secret Lair drops have quietly become Magic's most dependable Halloween event, and this line-up shows exactly what the product is for. Labyrinth is the interesting pick: a 1986 puppet fantasy that has never had a Magic crossover, handed three separate drops rather than one. That is a collector's release, not a Commander player's.

The $199 promo threshold is the detail to watch. It turns a themed card sale into a spending target, while the queue mechanics - random placement, no cart reservations - are built to absorb a rush rather than reward patience. Lovely art, engineered scarcity, and a firm nudge to spend well past the price of the cards.
