GTA 6 PS5 file size reportedly reaches 210GB
A reported 210GB PS5 requirement for Grand Theft Auto VI would be huge, but Rockstar has not confirmed the figure yet.
Grand Theft Auto VI is reportedly set to require around 210GB of storage on PS5, according to a new report from PlayStation Game Size carried by Push Square. That figure has not been confirmed by Rockstar Games or Sony, so it should be treated as a leak rather than a final installation requirement. 1
What the report says
The reported 210GB figure would make Grand Theft Auto VI one of the largest single-player releases on PS5. It comes from PlayStation Game Size, an account known for tracking information that appears in PlayStation databases, rather than from a public Rockstar specification. Push Square reports that the number relates to the PS5 version and may change before launch. 1
That distinction matters. A database listing can reflect a provisional package, a placeholder, or a pre-load allocation rather than the exact amount of space the finished game will occupy after installation. It also does not tell us how much temporary room the console might need while downloading, unpacking or applying launch updates.
The number is still plausible. Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI site presents a sprawling new Vice City and the state of Leonida, with Jason and Lucia at the centre of the story. The game is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. 2 A larger world, higher-resolution assets and a substantial amount of voiced and cinematic content would all put pressure on the download size, although file size alone says little about how efficiently the game is built.
Why the physical edition matters
A 210GB installation would also sharpen the conversation around the game’s reported digital-first packaging. A PS5 game cannot fit on a single standard 100GB Ultra HD Blu-ray, and a publisher would need to decide whether a physical release should use multiple discs, include a large download, or ship a code in the box. None of those choices proves that storage requirements determined the packaging decision, but the two issues are clearly connected.
The practical impact will be familiar to anyone with a launch-model PS5. The console’s internal SSD offers considerably less usable space than its advertised capacity, and a 210GB game could consume roughly a third of that space before patches or additional content are taken into account. Players who keep several large releases installed may need to move or delete games before the preload begins.
Our opinion
The reported number is worth watching, but it is not a reason to panic or to treat a leak as a confirmed specification. Rockstar’s official page currently confirms the release date and platforms, not the final download size. 2 The sensible move is to leave more room than the estimate demands and wait for the PlayStation Store listing or Rockstar to publish an exact requirement. If the figure survives that final check, it will be inconvenient for players with limited broadband or small SSDs, but it will not be surprising for one of the generation’s most ambitious releases.
