Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade joins Xbox Game Pass on 29 October

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade joins Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud gaming on 29 October.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is joining Xbox Game Pass on 29 October, giving subscribers on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming another way to play Square Enix’s modern retelling of the Midgar portion of the original RPG. Xbox lists the game for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass subscribers. 1

The announcement comes as part of Xbox’s second Game Pass wave for October 2026. It is a particularly hefty addition: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a full action RPG rather than a small side release, and its arrival gives the service a substantial single-player campaign ahead of the autumn backlog crunch.

What is included

Intergrade retells the opening section of Final Fantasy VII, following Cloud Strife and Avalanche through Midgar. The game combines real-time combat with command-based abilities, while the Intergrade edition also includes the Yuffie-led FF7R EPISODE INTERmission story. Square Enix is the developer and publisher. 2

The Game Pass listing covers Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud play. That matters for UK and European players who do not necessarily want to install a large RPG locally: the cloud option should make it possible to begin the campaign on supported devices, while PC players can use the Windows version through the subscription.

The release date

The game arrives on 29 October rather than immediately. Xbox’s announcement therefore gives subscribers a clear date to plan around, but it does not turn the game into a free standalone release: access remains tied to the relevant Game Pass tier and the service’s catalogue terms. 1

For anyone who has already played Final Fantasy VII Remake, this is mainly a new platform option. For everyone else, it is a chance to start with the first chapter of Square Enix’s remake project without buying the game separately, provided they have an eligible subscription when it launches.

Our opinion

This is exactly the sort of Game Pass addition that can swallow a week: a polished, story-heavy RPG with a substantial campaign and a bonus episode rather than a quick weekend distraction. The only caveat is the obvious one — if you prefer owning games permanently, or want to keep playing after your subscription changes, a standalone purchase still makes more sense. For subscribers who have been waiting for an excuse to revisit Midgar, 29 October is the date to circle.
