What’s actually going on: TYPE-MOON’s announcement says the current official website and X account will close around 7 September 2026 at 17:00 JST. Future updates will move to a new official website operated through Aniplex. The game remains announced for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
The publisher change is significant because Fate/EXTRA Record has already endured a long and unusually quiet development period. Bandai Namco’s departure does not mean the project has been cancelled, but the revised structure suggests the remake is still being reorganised behind the scenes.
There is no replacement launch window in the announcement, and Aniplex has not yet detailed its regional publishing or distribution plans. That means the platform list is still useful, while any speculation about a near-term launch would be getting ahead of the evidence.
Our opinion
Aniplex stepping in is better news than another silence-shaped delay, but it is not a release date and it is certainly not a launch trailer. Fate/EXTRA Record remains alive, which is the modest victory here. Now TYPE-MOON and Aniplex need to turn that pulse into an actual timetable before fans start ageing into the next Holy Grail War.
