EA Sports FC 27 arrives with a rebuilt transfer market
EA's football sim lands on 24 September with up to seven days of early access already open, a ten-hour Xbox trial running now, a social mode called The Grounds and a rebuilt transfer market in Manager Career.

EA Sports FC 27 is already in players' hands. EA's own game page lists the release as 24 September 2026, while buyers of the Ultimate Edition and Ultimate Plus Edition have had full access since 18 September under a promotion that promises up to seven days of early access. A ten-hour EA Play trial also went live on 18 September, on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and Xbox on PC, for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members.
The Grounds is the new centrepiece
The headline addition is The Grounds, which EA describes as a social football playground where the streets meet the stadium. It is built around Kickabouts, one-on-one matches and teaming up with friends in Clubs, with football mentors to learn from and room to express yourself on and off the pitch. EA confirms that The Grounds, Clubs included, is only available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 versions.
Manager Career gets a market that behaves like one
Manager Career has a rebuilt transfer market with realistic player values and active club bidding, plus new negotiation tactics that include performance and buy-back clauses. Dynamic OVRs now respond to form, morale and fitness across every club, so a squad's numbers move with its season rather than sitting still. On the pitch, EA is promising dynamic corners, enhanced attacking awareness and player-focused defending, framed around competitive play.
Ultimate Team gets a gallery, and the scale keeps growing
Football Ultimate Team adds a FUT Gallery, where players curate favourite player items to raise a Gallery Level, earn rewards and build a club identity across the season. The mode's first season, Ones to Watch, launched on 16 September. EA says the game carries more than 21,000 players from over 800 clubs and national teams across more than 140 stadiums and over 35 leagues, supported by more than 300 global football partners, and that its ratings cover more than 19,000 players. It is sold through the EA app for Windows, the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Our opinion
The most revealing thing about an annual football game is what the publisher chooses to put behind the newest hardware. EA has built a social hub, and then confirmed that the social hub only exists on the current-generation consoles and PC, which is an unusually candid statement about where it believes the people who actually play every week are sitting. The Grounds itself is an admission that the thing players really do in a football game is hang around with their friends rather than grind a division, and it is the first mode in years that reads as a response to that rather than a reaction to a rival. The transfer market is the part that will decide whether Manager Career stops feeling like paperwork, because transfer logic is where football games have historically turned into spreadsheets with a fixture list attached. The scheduling is the part worth watching. A seven-day Ultimate Edition head start now covers most of the week the game is being written about, so the verdict is settled by the time the standard edition unlocks, and the people paying the least get to hear about it the longest before they can join in.
