Dragon Quest Smash/Grow brings Dragon Quest IV crossover

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow’s Dragon Quest IV crossover adds new allies, abilities and the Zenithian Sword until December 15.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow has launched a Dragon Quest IV crossover event that adds familiar characters, new abilities and a fresh equipment set to Square Enix’s mobile roguelite RPG. The event is running now and ends on December 15 (UTC), giving players a limited window to collect its rewards. 1

What the crossover adds

The collaboration brings Dragon Quest IV characters into stages as Ally Blessings. Players can raise their bonds with those characters to earn items and unlock special skills that summon them during a run. Memoria Skills are also planned during the event period. These activate when a Character Memory reaches Rank S and is equipped in a matching-colour, star-marked slot.

The event is part of Dragon Quest Smash/Grow’s half-anniversary celebration. Login rewards include up to 5,000 free gems, while a separate promotion increases Adventurer Rank experience and gold earned from selected stages. The experience boost is limited to players at Adventurer Rank 29 or below and runs until November 4. 1

The Zenithian set

The crossover update also adds the Zenithian Sword, a signature weapon from Dragon Quest IV. Its Coup de Grâce, Zenithian Strike, delivers a sweeping physical wind attack against nearby enemies. The weapon’s Zenithian Blast enchantment fires six wind-infused blasts on every 10th mighty strike.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow is available on iOS and Android. The event is therefore a time-limited mobile collaboration rather than a new standalone Dragon Quest IV release. Square Enix’s announcement, as reported in the source below, gives players until December 15 to claim the event’s rewards and build its crossover characters into their runs. 1

Our opinion

This is a neatly focused anniversary update: it gives Dragon Quest IV fans recognisable characters and equipment while adding reasons to keep playing the mobile game through the end of the year. The strongest hook is the event’s persistence beyond a single session — Character Memories can be raised and their allies called upon after the event ends. The December 15 deadline still matters, though, so anyone interested should start before the limited rewards disappear.
