Devolver dates three autumn games at Tokyo Game Show

Devolver Digital brought three of its autumn release dates to Tokyo Game Show on 20 September, and all three land inside a month of each other. Mycopunk leaves early access on 20 October, Virtue and a Sledgehammer arrives on 27 October, and the free Quarantine Zone: Miami Zero update follows on 15 October. Each one shipped with a release-date trailer from the publisher's own channel.

What Devolver dated

Mycopunk has been on Steam in early access since July 2025, and version 1.0 launches on 20 October at $14.99 for PC and PlayStation 5. Pigeons at Play's squad shooter sends a crew of builder robots to the surface of a moon that a fungal infection has taken over, along with the planet's weapons systems. Upgrades are arranged on a grid you supercharge yourself, four players can co-operate, and fallen teammates can be pieced back together mid-firefight by whoever is still standing. Enemies can pick up the bits you blow off them and grow, which is the sort of detail that changes how a fight is played.

Virtue and a Sledgehammer is the calmer one, and it is still a game about breaking things. It arrives on PC on 27 October for $14.99, from Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbour, and it sends you back to the town you grew up in, now haunted by android copies of your digitised neighbours. Your instrument is the sledgehammer in the title. A demo is already on Steam if you want to swing it before committing.

Quarantine Zone goes to Miami

The third date is free. Quarantine Zone: Miami Zero is an expansion for Brigada Games' checkpoint simulator Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, and it arrives on 15 October for PC and Xbox at no cost. The scenario traces where the virus in the base game came from, drops you into a collapsing Miami and asks you to keep a hastily built checkpoint running long enough to recruit survivors, repair a luxury yacht and sail out of the city. New symptoms and new tools come with it.

Our opinion

The interesting thing about this slate is how little Devolver is asking for it. Three releases inside four weeks, two of them at $14.99 and one free, is not the behaviour of a publisher hunting a full-price quarter - it is a publisher spreading small bets across a festival week and letting each one stand on its own trailer. Virtue and a Sledgehammer is the one to watch. Deconstructeam published The Red Strings Club with Devolver in January 2018, went on to self-publish Many Nights a Whisper with Selkie Harbour in April 2025, and has now come back to the same publisher at the same price point eight years later. That is a studio that knows exactly how big its games are, and a publisher that has learned to leave them that size. The free Miami Zero update is the other half of the same discipline: keeping a January 2026 release alive with free content costs less than selling a season pass nobody asked for, and it is the reason Quarantine Zone will still be in people's libraries when its sequel gets announced.
