Crimson Desert expansion trailer reveals Charting the Unknown features
Pearl Abyss's new trailer outlines shipbuilding, underwater exploration, expanded housing and more ahead of the expansion's 29 October launch.
Pearl Abyss has released a six-minute Features Overview trailer for Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, the upcoming expansion for its open-world action game. The trailer sets out what players can expect when the add-on launches on 29 October 2026, rather than presenting it as available today.1
What the expansion adds
The expansion continues the stories of Kliff, Damiane and Oongka with new story paths, while opening up the Great Ocean of Pywel for shipbuilding, island exploration and underwater traversal. Players can build and customise a vessel, gather resources, establish strongholds with their Greymane comrades and search submerged ruins for treasure and materials.1
Pearl Abyss also highlights expanded base-building and housing. Players can design their homes structurally, claim and decorate liberated castles, and develop relationships with certain characters. A management layer lets players lease facilities, assign comrades and equipment, choose which goods to sell and grow each business's recognition and profits.1
Release details
Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown launches on 29 October at 3pm PT / 6pm ET for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The expansion is listed at $24.99, with pre-orders available through PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Steam listing identifies it as the expansion's official store page.12
Our opinion
This is a substantial expansion pitch rather than a minor content drop. The combination of an explorable ocean, underwater traversal, deeper housing and business systems gives Charting the Unknown a broader focus than a conventional story add-on. The important caveat is timing: the trailer describes the promised feature set, while players will need to wait until 29 October to see how those systems work in practice.
