A Game About Digging Together launches 4 December with co-op
A Game About Digging A Hole Together brings four-player online co-op, cross-platform play and a new beach to the digging game on 4 December.
A Game About Digging A Hole Together launches on 4 December for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The sequel adds four-player online co-op, cross-platform play and day-one Xbox Game Pass support. 12
What is changing
The sequel moves the digging loop to a beach where friends can join the same excavation. Players can still go it alone, but groups can split up, cover more ground and compare what they uncover. Steam lists single-player, online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer support. 1
The rhythm remains simple: dig, collect resources, sell what you find and spend the money on better equipment. The sequel expands the tools into four categories, adds more upgrades and includes strange objects to collect and display in a tent. Coal, iron and silver can be sold as players push deeper beneath the sand. 2
A bigger hole for a breakout hit
The original became an unexpected hit after launching in February 2025, and the sequel responds directly to requests for a longer experience and the ability to dig with friends. Mi’pu’mi Games is rebuilding the systems with the original creator and publishers rokaplay Select and Shochiku. 2
The developers say the rebuild supports shared digging, cross-platform play and more stable performance. That gives the sequel two distinct moods: a quiet solo hunt for treasure, or a social expedition where a group divides the beach and regroups around every odd discovery.
Release details
A Game About Digging A Hole Together is scheduled for 4 December on Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox Game Pass support is planned from launch. Steam currently lists it as coming soon, so it is not out now. 12
Our opinion
Digging is already a satisfyingly clear videogame verb, and adding friends gives the sequel a natural way to keep the loop fresh. The real test will be whether the extra tools, collectibles and underground surprises keep four players busy after the novelty of making one enormous hole wears off. For now, the announcement preserves the original’s focused idea while answering its clearest audience request.
