Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on GeForce NOW

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now available through GeForce NOW, with campaign, multiplayer and DMZ streaming to supported devices.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has joined GeForce NOW at launch, giving subscribers a way to stream Activision and Infinity Ward's latest campaign, multiplayer and DMZ extraction mode without installing the game locally. NVIDIA says the release is part of this week's six-game GeForce NOW update, alongside FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE, CONTROL Resonant, Crimson Desert, Planet Zoo 2 and We Were Here Tomorrow.1

What is available

NVIDIA says members can play the campaign across supported PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, browsers and televisions. Ultimate members also get access to GeForce RTX 5080-class cloud performance, including ray-tracing features in the campaign. The company describes the story as following Private Park, a South Korean soldier facing combat for the first time, while Captain Price pursues an off-the-books mission as a wider conflict spreads.1

The multiplayer package includes a dozen core 6v6 maps, with locations shaped by the campaign's global conflict. The new DMZ mode is built around extraction: players enter contested territory, recover valuable technology, weigh their objectives and decide when to leave. That gives the cloud version a broader pitch than simply making the single-player campaign available on another screen.

The game's Steam listing confirms the same campaign setting and modes, while also listing a 22 October 2026 release date and a £59.99 standard edition. Steam marks the game as coming soon, so availability can still vary by region, account and platform even though NVIDIA is announcing its GeForce NOW launch for today.2

Fire TV sign-ups and the wider update

NVIDIA is also rolling out in-app membership purchases for existing supported Fire TV Stick users. Performance and Ultimate subscriptions can be bought through Amazon's billing system, which removes one step for players who want to use GeForce NOW on a television. The service still requires a compatible Fire TV Stick, the GeForce NOW app and a supported membership tier.1

The same GFN Thursday update adds FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE, a new pixel-art RPG from Square Enix, and brings The Elder Scrolls Online's Echoes of Skyrim season to the cloud. NVIDIA says the season's Skyrim content is available to ESO Standard Edition owners, with further content scheduled to follow in November.1

For Modern Warfare 4, the practical story is simple: the game is now part of NVIDIA's cloud catalogue, but the usual caveats remain. GeForce NOW availability can vary as titles are onboarded, and players still need access to the supported game ecosystem or account required by the service. Cloud streaming removes the download and installation burden; it does not remove the need to meet GeForce NOW's device, membership and network requirements.

Our opinion

This is a meaningful launch for GeForce NOW because Modern Warfare 4 is exactly the sort of large installation that makes cloud gaming attractive. The campaign, multiplayer and DMZ modes give the announcement substance beyond a catalogue logo, while RTX 5080-class performance gives Ultimate members a clear technical reason to care. The important limitation is that NVIDIA's announcement does not make every device equivalent: support, membership tier, regional rollout and the game's own account requirements still matter. Treat it as a convenient new way to access the game, not a guarantee of identical access everywhere.
