Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on 22 October, bringing a two-player horror game built around communication, split information and a creature called Gloam. Q-Games is publishing the game from French developer Atlantis Studio, with the price set at ¥2,480 in Japan. 12

Two players, two versions of the truth

One player enters a dark house as the Explorer, searching for clues and solving puzzles from a first-person perspective. The other stays behind the cameras as the Overseer, using surveillance systems, documents and tactical tools to understand the danger and guide their partner. Neither player has the full picture, so survival depends on clear instructions rather than simply having quick reflexes. 1

Q-Games says the game supports local co-op, GameShare, local network play and online multiplayer. GameShare also allows a Nintendo Switch 2 player to play with someone using a standard Nintendo Switch, widening the pool of potential partners without requiring two new consoles. 1

The setup is deliberately asymmetric. The Explorer must investigate the house while avoiding Gloam, while the Overseer turns scattered information into useful directions. A missed detail or a bad call can put the other player in danger, making communication part of the horror rather than a feature bolted on afterwards. 12

Release date and platforms

Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch is being released for Nintendo Switch 2 on 22 October. Q-Games lists Atlantis Studio as the developer and supports two-player local, network and online modes. The Japanese price is ¥2,480, with regional prices listed on the official game page. 1

The announcement also confirms involvement from actor Troy Baker, while Oscar Araujo is composing the soundtrack. Q-Games says more information about Baker's role will follow. 2

Our opinion

A horror game that gives each player incomplete information has a clear advantage over another co-op title that simply adds a second person to the same screen. Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch looks most interesting when its fear comes from having to trust a friend's description of a threat neither of you can fully see. The release will show whether that communication pressure stays tense beyond the first few puzzles, but the two-player-only design gives this Switch 2 launch a sharper identity than a generic haunted-house adventure.
