Analogue announces Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ retro consoles for December
Analogue's updated FPGA consoles add wireless controllers, USB-C power and 1080p output before their December 2026 launch.
Analogue is bringing updated FPGA versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles to market this December, with pre-orders opening on 19 October at 8am PDT. The company says both systems cost $219.99 in the US and are built around in-house FPGA hardware rather than software emulation. 12
What Analogue is changing
The Super Nt+ is designed for the SNES and Super Famicom cartridge library, while the Mega Sg+ covers Sega's 16-bit and 8-bit cartridge eras. Analogue says the Super Nt+ supports more than 2,200 cartridges, with the Mega Sg+ supporting more than 2,180 games and adapters across Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear and related platforms. Both consoles output up to 1080p and are intended for low-lag 2D play. 12
The headline upgrades are modern connectivity and a revised design. Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless controller support are built in, alongside USB-C power and USB-A connectivity. Analogue also says cartridges can be swapped without powering down, and both systems retain region-free NTSC and PAL support. The consoles ship with HDMI and USB-C cables, but the compatible 8BitDo controllers are sold separately for $29.99. 12
Price, pre-orders and UK context
The Super Nt+ comes in Classic, SF and Black variants. The Mega Sg+ is offered in USA, EU and Japan versions. Analogue lists both products at $219.99, with shipping planned for December 2026. The company's pages do not give a UK-specific price or a VAT-inclusive total, so British buyers will need to wait for the relevant regional store listing before calculating the final cost. 12
Neither console includes built-in games. They are designed to play original cartridges, rather than ROM files, and the bundled hardware is focused on presenting older 2D systems at modern display resolutions. That makes these refreshes more about convenience, connectivity and preservation than a new games catalogue.
Our opinion
Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ are sensible updates to specialist retro hardware rather than radical replacements. Wireless controller support and USB-C power address two of the original systems' most obvious modern-day irritations, while the FPGA approach keeps the pitch centred on accurate cartridge playback. The December timing also gives collectors a clear choice: pre-order early for the launch allocation, or wait for a UK price and wider availability before committing to a premium second console.
