AION2 infographic highlights 108.2 million hours played after global launch
NC’s first AION2 launch infographic reports 108.2 million hours played and 6.3 million characters created.
AION2’s first global-service infographic puts some very large numbers behind the MMORPG’s launch. NC says players accumulated 108.2 million hours between the game’s early-access opening on September 30 and October 20, while more than 6.3 million characters were created during the same period.
The figures cover the early-access and full-service launch period rather than the game’s entire future. AION2 formally began its global service on October 5, and the infographic offers an early snapshot of how players have approached the free-to-play fantasy MMO. 1
The most popular class so far is the Gladiator, which accounted for 17 per cent of character choices. That is a useful glimpse at the game’s early balance of fantasy roles, although it does not tell us whether Gladiators are the strongest option, the easiest class for new players to understand or simply the one with the most immediately appealing identity.
NC’s graphic also reports 21.1 million characters reaching the level threshold shown in the image, 26.4 million PvP matches and 53.2 million instances of in-game social interaction. The exact labels are presented in the publisher’s infographic, so the numbers should be read as launch-period milestones rather than a direct measure of unique players.
The scale is notable, but the timeframe matters. A large total of playtime can be driven by a smaller group playing for long sessions, while character creation can include abandoned or experimental characters. Those caveats do not make the data meaningless; they simply put it in the right category. This is a launch pulse, not a complete health check for the MMO.
What we know
AION2 launched globally after its early-access period, and NC is now using the first weeks of activity to show how players are spending their time. The company has not supplied a comparable retention breakdown in the material behind this report, so the next meaningful update will need to show whether the initial rush has settled into a durable player base.
The official AION2 website remains the best place to check the game’s live-service information, while the launch infographic is the source for the specific totals reported here. 2
Our opinion
The most revealing number is not the 108.2 million hours; it is the class split. A 17 per cent share for Gladiators suggests players are converging on a recognisable front-line fantasy, but it also raises a question about variety. If the next update shows the remaining classes spreading out as players learn the game, that will look healthy. If Gladiators keep dominating because other roles are harder to understand or less rewarding, the headline launch numbers will conceal a balance problem. For now, AION2 has made a noisy start, and its next test is keeping that attention after the novelty wears off.
