Capcom's Ace Attorney Trilogy passes five million copies
Capcom says Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy has sold more than five million copies, a series record it has marked with new artwork as Ace Attorney nears its 25th anniversary.

Capcom says Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy has passed five million copies sold, the best result any Ace Attorney release has managed. The publisher shared the news on 20 September alongside new chibi artwork of the cast, and the collection's own entry in Capcom's Platinum Titles table - 5.00 million units, as of 30 June 2026 - now sits inside the company's top 25 million-sellers.
At a glance
What happened: Capcom announced that the trilogy has sold more than five million copies. What it is: the first three games - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations - in one package. Where you can play it: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile. Series debut: October 2001, on the Game Boy Advance. Anniversary: 12 October 2026.
Five million, then a long drop
The distance between first and second place in this series is the interesting part. The only other Ace Attorney title in Capcom's million-seller table is The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, the two Victorian-era games that were localised outside Japan for the first time in 2021, and it stands at 1.30 million units. The trilogy is placed 21st overall in that table, behind Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on 5.40 million and ahead of the long-serving Resident Evil 2 on 4.96 million.
Why the collection carries the series
The trilogy's advantage is that it is the cheapest complete way into a set of games that has been re-released for two decades. The first Ace Attorney arrived in Japan in October 2001, and most of the world met Phoenix Wright through the Nintendo DS version in 2005; the collection that now sits at five million gathered all three Game Boy Advance-era cases onto current hardware when it launched in February 2019, and on PC that April.
Capcom has kept that entry point cheap and available ever since. The bundle regularly appears in Steam and eShop sales, the mobile ports mean a player can start the first case for the price of a coffee, and the second trilogy - Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy - arrived in 2024 to catch readers who had finished the first one.
A 25th anniversary with no new case
The anniversary falls on 12 October and arrives without a new game attached to it. Every Ace Attorney title listed on Capcom's own product page is a collection or a port of something older: the two trilogies, the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and mobile versions of Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice. Capcom has not said when the next mainline entry will arrive.
Our opinion
Five million copies is a tribute to the packaging as much as to the writing. Three complete games, bought once and played on anything with a screen, is a far easier recommendation than asking someone to hunt down a 2005 DS cartridge, and the table shows exactly what that convenience is worth: the two Great Ace Attorney games, which contain the most ambitious scripts Capcom has written for this series, have reached barely a quarter of the trilogy's total. Familiarity is what the numbers reward, and the first three cases are the ones everybody already knows.
Which is why an anniversary celebrated with chibi artwork instead of a release date is a slightly hollow occasion. The milestone is real and the reprints have been handled well, but a quarter of a century is the natural moment to say what comes next, and Capcom has again chosen to sell the back catalogue rather than write the next case. Phoenix Wright has earned a new courtroom after all the copies he has shifted.
