Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 gets a French N64 box bonus

Selected Micromania stores in France will offer a replica Nintendo 64 box with pre-orders during Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 launch night.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting another pre-order incentive ahead of its Nintendo Switch 2 release: selected Micromania stores in France will hand out a replica Nintendo 64 box during their midnight launch event. The bonus is available while supplies last to customers who pre-order the game at participating stores, including web orders, according to the retailer announcement reported by Nintendo Life 2.

A nostalgic bonus for launch night

Micromania says its midnight openings will take place from the night of 4 November into 5 November. The replica is based on the PAL Nintendo 64 box and includes an inner insert designed to hold the Nintendo Switch 2 game card. It is a display piece rather than a fully exact reproduction: Micromania notes that the front and back are identical, rather than recreating every detail of the original packaging 2.

The offer is specifically tied to participating French stores and stock is limited, so it should not be treated as a general Nintendo launch bonus. Nintendo’s own product page lists the Switch 2 version for release on 5 November 2026 1. That makes the timing neat: fans attending the midnight opening could collect the retro-styled box as the remake becomes available.

A second N64-style pre-order extra

The French promotion follows a similar offer in Canada. EB Games Canada has been advertising an N64-style slipcover for Ocarina of Time pre-orders, giving fans in two markets a packaging-themed extra rather than an in-game item 2. The details and availability differ by retailer, however, and neither promotion confirms a wider release of the replica box in the UK or elsewhere.

For collectors, the appeal is obvious. Ocarina of Time’s return is already built around revisiting a Nintendo 64 classic with reworked visuals and modernised gameplay, and a physical nod to the original packaging fits that pitch better than a generic cosmetic bonus. It also gives the French launch a small point of difference for anyone deciding where to place a pre-order.

Our opinion

This is a modest but well-targeted bonus. A replica box will not change the game itself, and the limited French availability makes it irrelevant to most international pre-orders, but it understands exactly why this remake matters: the nostalgia is part of the product. Just check that your chosen Micromania store is participating and still has stock before relying on it as part of your launch-night plans.
