Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on Switch 2

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, with Aspyr bringing Lara Croft’s jungle adventure and its downloadable content to Nintendo’s latest console.¹

The release is also part of the Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy bundle. That collection combines Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, alongside each game’s additional content.¹

The Nintendo eShop listing describes the trilogy as Lara’s complete origin story, travelling from Yamatai to Siberia and finally Peru. The Switch 2 versions retain the three games’ campaigns, DLC and online modes, giving players a single package covering the full Survivor Trilogy.¹

Aspyr has also published a trailer showing the three-game bundle in action. The footage puts the emphasis on exploration, traversal and combat across the trilogy rather than presenting the Switch 2 version as a new Lara Croft adventure.²

The game’s official Steam listing confirms that Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition includes the base game, seven DLC challenge tombs, downloadable weapons, outfits and skills.³ Those inclusions provide useful context for the Switch 2 release, although the Nintendo listing is the relevant source for its availability on the console.

The Switch 2 launch follows earlier releases of the other two Survivor Trilogy games on the platform. Final Weapon reports that the collection is available now, while noting that a future physical release for Shadow of the Tomb Raider has not been confirmed.⁴

Our opinion

This is a straightforward catalogue addition rather than a new chapter for Lara, but it fills the obvious gap in Nintendo’s modern Tomb Raider line-up. Players who want the full reboot trilogy on one console can now get all three games together, while existing owners should check the eShop listing for the version and bundle details before buying.

For newcomers, the bundle is the cleaner proposition: it provides the complete arc in release order and includes the major downloadable content. The individual release makes more sense for anyone who only wants Lara’s final origin-story chapter on Switch 2.
