Ratatan launches on PC, PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S
Ratatan has left Early Access with its 1.0 release, new chapters and a multi-platform launch across PC and current consoles.
Ratatan is now available in version 1.0 across PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. The rhythm-action roguelike from Ratata Arts and Game Source Entertainment launched on 14 October, bringing its full release out of Early Access alongside new content and features.12
What is included
The 1.0 version adds Chapters 3 and 4, Dark Ratatan, new gameplay features and performance improvements. The game costs $34.99 digitally, while the Digital Deluxe Edition and physical versions are listed at $39.99 by Final Weapon.1 Steam’s store page describes Ratatan as a rhythm roguelike that combines side-scrolling action with rhythm commands, online co-op for up to four players and battles involving more than 100 characters.2
The release is also notable for its console availability. Ratatan can be played on Switch 2 and PS5, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam. The physical Switch 2 and PS5 editions are reported to run from the game card or disc without requiring additional game data downloads.1
Why it matters
Ratatan is the latest attempt to carry the spirit of Patapon into a broader co-operative action game, but it is not simply a reissue of that older series. Its core hook is the combination of real-time positioning, rhythm sequences and roguelike runs, with players directing their Cobuns while responding to the beat. That mix gives the launch a clear identity beyond nostalgia.2
Our opinion
A full launch is a more meaningful milestone for Ratatan than another early-access update. The 1.0 package’s added chapters and Dark Ratatan give returning players a reason to revisit it, while the multi-platform release makes its unusual rhythm-combat premise easier to try. Whether the co-op loop holds up over time will depend on balance and matchmaking, but the release has finally put the finished version in players’ hands.
