Modern Warfare 4 will launch without a PS5 Platinum Trophy

Modern Warfare 4 is expected to launch inside Call of Duty HQ without a PS5 Platinum Trophy, though the list could be added later.

Modern Warfare 4 will arrive on PlayStation 5 later this month without a Platinum Trophy, according to reporting based on PlayStation Store data and PlayStation Game Size’s tracking. The game is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026, so this is a pre-release detail rather than a change to a game already on sale.12

Why the Platinum is missing

The PS5 version is expected to sit inside the Call of Duty HQ launcher rather than appear as a wholly separate application. That means the game is being treated as downloadable content for trophy purposes, so players can earn a smaller set of campaign and gameplay trophies without a full standalone list or Platinum.1

The arrangement follows the way recent Call of Duty releases have been handled inside the shared launcher. It is frustrating news for trophy hunters, although it does not change the campaign, multiplayer or DMZ content that Modern Warfare 4 is due to offer.13

It could change later

There is a precedent for a Call of Duty title gaining a standalone Platinum after being separated from Call of Duty HQ. That leaves open the possibility of a later trophy-list change, but there is no confirmation that Modern Warfare 4 will receive one.1

Activision’s official announcement confirms that Modern Warfare 4 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23. The publisher’s trailer presents the game’s Korean Peninsula campaign and wider multiplayer and DMZ offering.3

Our opinion

A Platinum Trophy is optional, but the distinction matters to the people who plan their game purchases around complete trophy lists. Folding a major release into Call of Duty HQ may make the platform easier to manage, yet it also makes each game feel less self-contained. If Activision keeps this structure, it should be clearer about trophy support before launch rather than leaving collectors to discover the omission through database tracking.1

The sensible reading for now is simple: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 without a confirmed PS5 Platinum Trophy, but the list is not necessarily permanent.
