LEGO teases five new Smart Play Pokémon sets for 2027
A PokémonXP presentation teased five upcoming LEGO Smart Play Pokémon builds, although the creatures identified by fans have not been officially confirmed.
LEGO’s interactive Pokémon range is expanding in 2027, although the first glimpse has arrived as five mysterious silhouettes rather than a neat product catalogue. During a PokémonXP demonstration, LEGO teased new Smart Play Pokémon sets for next year.
Nintendo Life reports that fans believe the silhouettes represent Charcadet, Grookey, Mankey, Pichu and Wingull. That is a fan reading of the teaser, not an official reveal, so consider the names pencilled in rather than carved into a very expensive plastic Pokédex.
Smart bricks, familiar monsters
The current LEGO Pokémon Smart Play range combines brick-built creatures with interactive Smart Bricks and Smart Tags. Existing sets include Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Bidoof, Mew, Squirtle, Umbreon, Garchomp, Eevee, Lapras, Cubone, Gengar, Jigglypuff, the Paldea starters, Charmander, Geodude, Charizard, Jolteon and Mewtwo.
The appeal is straightforward: these are not just static display models. The Smart Play system adds an interactive layer intended to make the builds respond as part of a play experience, giving the blocks something to do beyond gathering dust beside the instruction manuals.
Five silhouettes and plenty of guessing
The teaser did not provide final product names, prices, sizes or release dates beyond the 2027 window. LEGO and The Pokémon Company will need to reveal the designs before buyers can judge how closely the silhouettes match the fan predictions.
That uncertainty is doing useful work for LEGO. A handful of black shapes has already turned into a guessing game, which is considerably cheaper than manufacturing five complete prototypes and leaving them on a stage.
Our opinion
The Smart Play range is a sensible fit for Pokémon because it combines collecting, building and a little digital mischief. Five new creatures would also broaden the line beyond the safest mascot choices, assuming the fan predictions are accurate.
For now, though, this is a tease rather than a full announcement. We can be interested without pretending that silhouettes are specifications. LEGO has given fans something to guess at; the proper reveal will decide whether these are must-have builds or five more boxes competing for shelf space.
