Chiikawa Pocket launches fourth wave of official merchandise
Chiikawa Pocket’s fourth official goods wave brings lunchbox and shopkeeper designs to pop-up shops across Japan from 24 October.
Chiikawa Pocket is taking its fourth wave of official merchandise to a new series of pop-up shops, with an “obento” lunchbox theme and a second “shopkeeper” range launching from 24 October.12
The campaign is built around the world of Chiikawa, the smartphone game based on Nagano’s popular comic. The app is developed and operated by Applibot, and its mix of mini-games, home decoration and everyday character moments provides the setting for the new goods.12
The official campaign artwork shows the characters dressed around the two themes, including lunchbox-inspired costumes and shopkeeper outfits. The product line includes seven lunchbox-themed mascot designs, trading embroidered badges, stickers, towels, tote bags, T-shirts and clear files. The mascots cost ¥2,200 each, while the random badges cost ¥385 individually or ¥2,695 for a box.2
The shopkeeper range adds a seven-design trading acrylic stand set, plus more stickers, towels, tote bags, T-shirts and clear files. The acrylic stands cost ¥495 individually or ¥3,465 for a box. The official event page lists purchase limits for the different items, including one mascot per design at the physical shops.12
The promotion also ties the merchandise back to the game. Customers spending at least ¥2,200 can receive a dedicated shopping bag and a serial-code sticker for the “Art of Autumn” home item. A separate original stamp, “Chiikawa Pocket Original Stamp Vol. 4”, is also available with purchases, subject to the campaign’s conditions.1
The first pop-up location is 0% IKEBUKURO on the sixth floor of Tokyo’s Ikebukuro PARCO, where the event runs from 24 October to 23 November. Further venues follow at Tennoji MIO in Osaka from 30 October, Aeon Mall Sendai Uesugi from 3 November, Fukuoka PARCO from 6 November and Nagoya PARCO from 13 November. Dates, opening hours and final-day hours vary by venue, so visitors should check the official event page before travelling.1
The new goods are also scheduled for the official Chiikawa Pocket goods store online from 24 October at 11am. The campaign page warns that physical-store layouts may differ from the preview images, while stock updates are published through the event’s official social account.1
Our opinion
This is a particularly coherent merchandise push because the two themes extend what Chiikawa Pocket already does rather than simply placing character faces on unrelated products. The lunchbox and shopkeeper ideas turn familiar daily routines into collectible designs, while the home-item reward gives players a reason to connect a physical purchase back to the app. The useful detail for fans is the spread of venues and the clearly stated purchase limits; the less useful detail is that demand will probably make availability the deciding factor. Check the official stock updates before setting out, and treat the online store as the safer route if the physical event is impractical.1
