The Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.1 brings 13GB patch and major fixes
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s first major post-launch patch weighs around 13GB and fixes more than 1,100 issues across combat, quests and stability.
The Blood of Dawnwalker has received its first major post-launch update, with version 1.1 now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The patch is roughly 13GB, depending on platform, and brings more than 1,100 fixes and improvements to Rebel Wolves' vampire action RPG.
The update adds a new Forgiving difficulty, replacing the previous Story setting, alongside a new Story mode with extra combat assistance. Players can also reallocate Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism abilities with the Draught of Mind Rebirth. A lighter touch arrives in the form of pettable cats and dogs.
What Update 1.1 changes
Combat and movement receive a broad pass. Targeting, locking on and disengaging have been adjusted, while Shadowstep and Planeshift are more responsive. Frame Generation has dedicated settings, combat cameras and animations have been refined, and controller deadzone options have been added. The patch also adjusts higher-level upgrade costs, reduces the health of high-level wolves and boars, and tones down a cathedral guard who could kill Coen in a single hit before level 30.
Inventory management is less awkward, too. Merchants now offer a buyback option, equipped items are hidden from the selling interface, and an item can be assigned to both the day and night equipment presets. Subtitle options have been expanded, including larger text and subtitles for all dialogue. The Japanese Steam version also no longer censors blood and gore.
Progression fixes make up a large part of the patch
The long patch notes are particularly significant for players who hit progression blockers. Update 1.1 fixes closed doors that could prevent access to the arena or the final encounter in A Hero's End, a missing Anca in Stronger Than Achilles, and problems that could leave Coen outside the intended quest area during Midnight Reckoning. Other fixes cover quest triggers, NPC appearances, combat states, objectives, crashes, loading screens, map collisions and save behaviour.
Rebel Wolves is still investigating at least one issue: the game may crash on systems using an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT when Frame Generation is switched from off to on. That problem may arrive in a hotfix rather than waiting for another major update.
Our opinion
A patch this large is welcome for a game whose ambition puts unusual pressure on its quest logic and open-world systems. The most valuable changes are not the flashy additions but the fixes that stop a blocked door, missing NPC or broken objective from turning a long RPG session into a reload-and-wait exercise. The remaining Radeon Frame Generation issue is worth watching, but Update 1.1 looks like a substantial attempt to make The Blood of Dawnwalker more dependable as well as more accommodating for new players.
